Since he was a friend and I actually saw he was making a profit on these items, I asked him to teach me.

It cost almost nothing to start. $20 was all I spent. That, and my time...which was 15 hours a week.

I started the day after he taught me all he knew and made a profit my first month. By my third month, I was making $1500/mo. That income saved me from being homeless.

Today, I make a full time income on it and have taught many people. But, it takes sooooo long to teach people one at a time. So, I decided to just put it all in a book.

Everything is covered. It's a short read. You can literally get started selling today!

Almost the only way to fail at this is to just not to the work....most of which is just copy and pasting. There's very little thinking involved at all. Even someone that isn't computer savvy can do this!

Kindle Version: Images Overcompressed

I got the Kindle version and so far the books been everything that I've wanted.

My only gripe is that the images are too grainy. Not only is this a fundamental problem when studying a medical field that is centered around LOOKING AT IMAGES, there are some tables where I cannot even read what the words say... And im not exagerrating.

I would wait an entire day for a larger version of the book to download with larger image sizes. Access to an online file bank of the full size images would be an alternate solution. Either way, im not trying to be a dick but I want to be able to read all the tables!

pretty similar to prior edition, however, it is updated with some new material and lots of new color images and schematics. The ebook is lighter to carry than the single volume text ;) I wish webb would update body ct. B&H is a great read as always. If money is tight tho I rec getting a like new copy of the prior edition get the 4 volume set (I have both) the single is just too heavy). ebooks are the way to go for quick reference in the reading room

Some chapters seem too superficial while other chapters are quite technical. I enjoy having that additional information, but the information packed chapters were poorly written. It is also unfortunate that the text will reference images found on other pages requiring you to flip back and forth frequently. Otherwise, the text can be completed in less than a month and provides a satisfactory introduction to Rads.

Highly selective passages chosen

This textbook selectively splices little tidbits from the great political philosophers in such a way that misconstrues their major projects. It is meant to be selections from the primary sources, but the selection of passages chosen for this textbook grossly oversimplifies many of the thinkers. Central and important passages from texts are left out while other less important passages are chosen for inclusion.

What a trip!

One of the most interesting, fun, and engrossing books I've ever read--literally going to Hades and back, with a host of humorous characters along the way. "Scabby Turtle," anyone? You learn a lot about traditional Chinese culture, as well... views on the afterlife, the role of bureaucracy, etc. It's a shame there aren't more English translations of Xianzu Tang's works, and it's an even further shame there aren't yet Kindle versions of the few additional ones that exist. Get on it, Amazon!

a delightful love story with lots of action

I am not familiar with Chinese literature and this was a wonderful introduction. As just a "read", this had all the action, love and suspense that one could want. It is a very readable translation, and once into the story it became very difficult to set it down. I would recommend it to anyone that likes a delightful story well told.

Delightful, totally delightful is all I can say about J.R. Rain & Kris Carey's newly released novel, THE ACCIDENTAL SUPERHEROINE! This warp-speed super spy spoof is based on the premiss an "accident" in a giant Swiss underground cyclotron causes three physicists to be transformed. Their change pulls the reader along into an international crisis fuel by incredible feats of human metamorphosis. Can a super villian be stopped? Can a lone female physicist prevail? Will her fellow physicist and crush be rescued? This is a story well worth reading.

It's clever, it's brilliant, it's geeky.

Every page is exciting. It's a rollicking international adventure thriller that's packed densely with science, superscience, science fiction, pop culture, humor and more twists and turns than I expected. It was ever so much fun to get inside the mind of a very intelligent protagonist who makes no apologies for a high I.Q. And you'll meet great villains you will love to hate!

I guess you might have to be on the smart side to understand some of the science concepts in this book, but even if you don't know what quantum physics is, the superheroine who uses her brainpower for good, not evil, is compelling and funny and just downright adorably smart. Quick and Fun Read

While reading my ARC copy, I began jotting down all the best one liners. I soon realized I would use a lot of paper. I love a book that makes me laugh. Mira is very funny. How can you not love a shero whose response to a particle acceleration accident is: "It was like God had cursed me by making all of my childhood wishes come true. I was wearing the Harry Potter Invisibility Cloak and was stuck on the set of the Sound of Music." This is a quick fun read with all the elements of the classic superhero plot: evil megalomanical villian, spunky shero, handsome hero, and a secret government plot. The seeds for the sequel are well planted. The ending was a little abrupt, but struck the right chord. I look forward to Rain and Carey's next entry in this series.

Thorough review for NBEO II

Overall, I found this review guide very helpful in preparing for the NBEO. As the product description says, the book is divided into sections following the same format and weighting as the actual exam: There are many more ocular disease/trauma questions than public health questions, for example.
With each answer, there is a rationale explaining why that choice is correct, or why the others are wrong... this is awesome!

One of the things I noticed was that the questions, especially in the systemic section, focused a lot on the nitty-gritty details. This made it really challenging and at times, discouraging (which is why I gave 4 stars, not 5). However, after taking the test I felt (as did many of my classmates) that the questions on the actual exam tended to be slightly easier than the ones in the book, but that similar topics were covered.

So -- even if you never actually sit down and do all the questions, this book will give you a good idea of what conditions/diseases, etc. to review.

Good NBEO Studying Tool

This review really helped prepare me for boards as a self-evaluation tool to determine which areas I needed to concentrate my studying. Most of the chapters were very concise and representative of the questions that appeared on the national boards.

A few chapters did not give a good representation of the questions that actually appeared on the exam, but overall the questions were very similar to the types of questions were actually asked on the exam.

Overall I would recommend the book to anyone who is preparing for boards and needs a little direction on which areas to emphasize their studying.

I have been out of the field for over 8 years. I've decided to get back into it. Studying at my age was difficult. I found this book on line and decided to give it a try. Loving this book. It makes studying so much easier to learn the materials. What helps too is that this book was compiled by a lot of my instructors when I was in school.

About the Author
Philip Zimbardo

Philip Zimbardo is internationally recognized as the “voice and face of contemporary American psychology” through his widely seen PBS-TV series, Discovering Psychology, his classic research, The Stanford Prison Experiment, authoring the oldest current textbook in psychology, Psychology and Life, in its 18th Edition, and his popular trade books on Shyness in adults and in children; Shyness: What it is, what to do about it, and The Shy Child. Past president of the American Psychological Association, and the Western Psychological Association.

 

Zimbardo has been a Stanford University professor since 1968 (now an Emeritus Professor), having taught previously at Yale, NYU, and Columbia University. He is currently on the faculty of the Pacific Graduate School of Psychology, and the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey, CA. He has been given numerous awards and honors as an educator, researcher, writer, and service to the profession. Recently, he was awarded the Vaclav Havel Foundation Prize for his lifetime of research on the human condition. His more than 300 professional publications and 50 books convey his research interests in the domain of social psychology, with a broad spread of interests from shyness to time perspective, madness, cults, political psychology, torture, terrorism, and evil.

 

Zimbardo has served also as the Chair of the Council of Scientific Society Presidents (CSSP) representing 63 scientific, math and technical associations (with 1.5 million members), and now is Chair of the Western Psychological Foundation. He heads a philanthropic foundation in his name to promote student education in his ancestral Sicilian towns. Zimbardo adds further to his retirement list activities: serving as the new executive director of a Stanford center on terrorism -- the Center for Interdisciplinary Policy, Education, and Research on Terrorism (CIPERT). He was an expert witness for one of the soldiers in the Abu Ghraib Prison abuses, and has studied the interrogation procedures used by the military in that and other prisons as well as by Greek and Brazilian police torturers.

 

Noted for his personal and professional efforts to actually 'give psychology away to the public', Zimbardo has also been a social-political activist, challenging the U.S. Government's wars in Vietnam and Iraq, as well as the American Correctional System.

His new book has been a New York Times bestseller: THE LUCIFER EFFECT: UNDERSTANDING HOW GOOD PEOPLE TURN EVIL (Random House, 2007; see www.lucifereffect.org).

 

Robert L. Johnson

Robert Johnson, Ph.D., taught introductory psychology for 28 years at Umpqua Community College. He is especially interested in applying psychological principles to the teaching of psychology and in encouraging linkages between psychology and other disciplines. In keeping with those interests, Bob founded the Pacific Northwest Great Teachers Seminar, of which he was the director for 20 years. He was also one of the founders of Psychology Teachers at Community Colleges (PT@CC), serving as its executive committee chair during 2004. That same year he also received the Two-Year College Teaching Award given by the Society for the Teaching of Psychology. Bob has long been active in APA, APS, the Western Psychological Association, and the Council of Teachers of Undergraduate Psychology.

Aside from his contributions as coauthor of Psychology: Core Concepts, Bob is particularly proud of his articles in Teaching of Psychology. Recently he began a term as editor of The General Psychologist, the newsletter of the Society for General Psychology (Division 1 of APA). And, he is working on a book that brings to light what Shakespeare had to say about psychology.

 

Bob and his wife live on the North Umpqua River in Southern Oregon, where they can go kayaking in their front yard or bicycling in the valleys of the Cascade Mountains. In his spare time he likes making pottery and Thai curries.

 

Vivian McCann 

Vivian McCann, a senior faculty member in Psychology at Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon, teaches a wide variety of courses, including introductory psychology, human relations, intimate relationships, and social psychology. Born and raised in the California desert just 10 miles from the Mexican border, she learned early on the importance of understanding cultural backgrounds and values in effective communication and in teaching, which laid the foundation for her current interest in teaching and learning psychology from diverse cultural perspectives. She loves to travel and learn about people and cultures, and to nurture the same passions in her students: She has led groups of students on three trips abroad, and in her own travels has visited 20 countries so far.

Vivian maintains a strong commitment to teaching excellence, and has developed and taught numerous workshops in that area. She currently serves on the APA’s Committee for Psychology Teachers at Community Colleges (PT@CC), and is an active member of the Western Psychological Association and APS. She is also the author of Human Relations: The Art and Science of Building Effective Relationships.

How good?

This book is absolutely, unbelievably good. I am just taking a Psychology course for the first time and we happened to be asked to buy this book. Out of my current four main courses and three extra sub courses, this book has made Psychology the best so far. I think it addresses psychology in such a way that one can relate to it. The only problem I think some people might have is the fact that the book contains some medical terms and vocabulary that someone not going in for medicine might wonder why they need it. But if your going to be studying the brain, why not. This book also provides websites,experiments (very entertaining ones mind you and some funny too) and documentaries not at the end, but a-midst its explanations for better understanding and even more advanced learning. I'll definitely recommend this book anytime.
Since this seventh edition just came out, most of my colleagues had the book in binder and removable paper form but amazon was able to give me this book in paper back at a price lower than it was being sold in my college.

It's so convenient having my text book on Kindle. Being able to search for terms throughout the text makes studying so much easier. Zimbardo is an amusing man, and I think he could have made this book a tad less boring, but that's pushing it a bit much for a college text book.
