This book is 3x more thorough than essential grammars (Like the version by Allan, Holmes and Lundskaer-Nielsen which I have reviewed as well.) So if you have a penchant for 700 pages of grammatic tutelage, this is the book for you. The "Routledge" is the best choice for translators, linguists and advanced Danish speakers available on Amazon right now. But remember, like English, colloquial Danish is ever "evolving" and simplifying itself, so if you just want to understand Danish Grammar for speaking purposes, just stick with an essentials type text.

...Sometimes a book demands to be written. One of the best examples of this is the first SPE monograph of Pressure Buildup and Glow Tests and Wells. (1966), Matthews and Russell, which collected and collated, for the first time, the theories on well testing postulated in myriad papers on the subject since the 1940s. I believe the Dr. Danesh has satisfied a similar demand with his authoritative book on PVT / Phase behaviour. Such a modern compilation of all the developments in these complex subjects is long overdue and the book is thorough and thoughtfully written by an expert in these subjects.

...The chapters include a review of basic thermodynamics and classification of hydrocarbon systems, fluid sampling and laboratory experiments, correlations of PVT properties (which we all rely upon), phase equilibria and equations of state for complex hydrocarbon systems, gas injection and, of particular importance, how to input PVT data to compositional numerical simulation models.

Great information that should be taught in school

This book is a must read for those that are interested in great health. If you read this book you are going to clean your septic system. One thing you will come away with is the knowledge that you can't keep treating symptoms and expect to get better. Doctors usally treat symptoms. Your septic system is the root of most of your problems. Clean it on a regular basis and your body will heal itself. The body wants to heal itself and does an amazinly good job of it. But if it is overcome by poisons it can't heal itself. 5 stars!

This book confirmed everthing my naturopath told me about how we begin to heal at the bottom upward. He had been ill as a very young man in life and met someone who understood cleansing as well as other natural foods for wellness. This is book has the 2010 American Heart Association guidelines that is required for basic CPR & First Aid training. Note: The guidelines change every 5 years. The new books with the 2015 guidelines should be available in early 2016. It takes the AHA about a year to make the books available & start teaching the new guidelines once the guidelines are announced.

Good Reference!

This student work book is excellent to have on hand. I initially purchased it for the certification course, even though we were told we did not have to have the book to complete the course. However, I like to keep reference books like this on hand for reminders. The AHA certification lasts two years, so I think it is valuable for me to have a resource to reference in between certification courses. I believe there is a newer version that has been released at this point but there aren't too many differences.

I recommend every home should have a copy in order to keep their family and themselves safe. Each person should review it periodically so he or she would know what to do when they have to react quickly in a real live situation as the book will have already prepare them.

About the Author
Upton Sinclair was born in Baltimore in September 1878. His father moved the family to New York City in 1888. Although his own family was extremely poor, he spent periods of time living with his wealthy grandparents. He later argued that witnessing these extremes turned him into a socialist. Sinclair funded his college education by writing stories for newspapers and magazines. Sinclair s first novel was published in 1901. Sinclair was extremely active in socialist politics throughout his life. His novel "Dragon s Teeth" (1942) on the rise of Nazism won him the Pulitzer Prize. By the time Upton Sinclair died in 1968, he had published more than ninety books.

How He Spent His Vacation

Hal Warner is a college man who visits the coal camps of Colorado to learn what they are really like. He finds out how a traveler can be arrested and robbed of his money and watch. When he makes a friend he learns about the fear that oppresses workers in a company town. A complainer can be fired and blacklisted in the whole state. Death and crippling injuries are too common, the mine bosses ignore the state laws. Education in public schools offers a view of a wider world. Otherwise the people in these camps are like medieval serfs without their many holidays and benefits. Sinclair shows his bias against drinking, as if that was the cause of the worker's poverty instead of the result. The company preacher in the company church spoke against demon rum, but not the poverty and oppression they endured. Over-work caused "industrial drinking".

Miners were cheated on the amount of coal they produced. There was a caste system based on nationality. [Divide et impera?] The company supervisors tried to prostitute young women. Any accident is blamed on the victim. Hal gets a better job by paying off the boss. Hard physical labor dulled the mind and wearied the body. Workers were encouraged to spy on each other. An organizer for the United Mine-Workers shows up and explains why the workers need a union: to enforce the state laws that are ignored by the company bosses. In Book II Sinclair tells of the care needed to organize so the miners can get an honest weight for their coal. There had been a big strike once. The local government and state militia acted for the mine owners. Strike leaders were put in jail without being charged. Others were railroaded and left in a desert without food or water. Judges were forbidden to act! The strike was broken.

Hal learns how the votes are counted by the coal company: their man always wins! The miners decide on what to do, and how to handle the expected violence (rely on moral force). The company concocts a reason to put Hal in jail. The marshal tells Hal how the courts and jury are rigged to railroad him to prison, perfectly legal. But Hal has a surprise for the marshal. A mine explosion occurs. Sinclair describes the effects it has below and above ground. These accidents result when the company disregards the safety laws. The mine company is slow to rescue the men; there is a profit motive there (as in Cherry Illinois)! Hal is then railroaded out of town.

This fast-paced story tells about the political system that is corrupted by big corporations. Hal acts as a knight who passes many tests and difficulties to save the imperiled miners. Can people depend on the "old-school tie" to make everything right? Sinclair's writing skills have improved since "The Jungle" of 1906. This book describes life in a company town a century ago. Have things changed since? Will this past return? Sinclair is no longer totally in favor of alcohol prohibition. The examples in states showed this did not prevent the oppression that resulted in poverty.

The 'Postscript' explains this story is based on the facts observed in unorganized mining camps around the time of the great coal strike of 1913-1914. The characters are based on real persons, every incident is typical. The Colorado strike was well documented. A report by the Colorado Supreme Court told about the political repression used to control voting. [Sinclair was a jounalist who documented his findings in novels. This prevented them from being long forgotten like most of the 'muckrakers' in the early 1900s.]

I found this book to be a truly captivating representation of the hypocrisy and oppression that the early 20th century coal miners encountered. While the plot is not as notable as his earlier work, The Jungle; King Coal is laced with it's own gruesome depiction of the corruption caused by greed and apathetic treatment toward the mine workers.

Upton Sinclair devoted his life to exposing the flaws of big industry and I think everyone could benefit from reflecting on his work.

I would also recommend Germinal by naturalist, Emile Zola or The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. The latter book illustrates the life of a family of sharecroppers during the Dust Bowl while the former concerns the lives of workers in the French mines.

About the Author

Joanne Ryder has always loved pandas, starting with the very first small panda toy she had as a child. She has continued to be fascinatd by these rare and wonderful animals throughout her career as a writer. She is the award-winning author of numerous picture books, including A Pair of Polar Bears: Twin Cubs Find a Home at the San Diego Zoo; Little Panda: The World Welcomes Hua Mei at the San Diego Zoo; My Mother's Voice; My Father's Hands; Big Bear Ball; and Wild Birds. She lives in Pacific Grove, California, with her husband, Laurence Yep, who is also an author.

Dr. Katherine Feng was a veterinarian before a photo safari to Kenya inspired her to pursue a second career as a photographer and tour escort. Delightful Read and Visual Treat for Your Children

I have 2 grand daughters: one is 3 years old and the other is 7 years old and after receiving it, I knew it was the perfect gift for both of them. The pictures are superb and will enthrall both the girls and the text can be read by the 7 year old with a bit of effort. And that's what I want; I want her to become an avid reader and also be motivated to try harder to improve her reading skills. Above the run-of-the-mill children's books, this book deserves the good review it got from the New York Times. Get your couch potatoes sitting upright and read along with them if you need to do so, they won't run across too many Pandas in their everyday life; and they (the Pandas) ALL belong to China, no matter what zoo you may see them in.

What a delight!

This is without a doubt the cutest panda book I've ever seen! I've always thought of the birth of a baby panda as a rare and wonderful event. Something eagerly awaited and then reported in the newspaper. But in this book, photographed at the Wolong Nature Reserve in China, you can see 16 baby pandas together! Wonderful photographs show the little pandas playing, eating, napping, and being cuddled by their panda mothers and their human caretakers. It's a great story and Joanne Ryder tells it perfectly. Her words convey the spirit of the place plus necessary information in a way young children can understand and relate to. Her love for these little bears come through in every word. I can't begin to describe how wonderful the photographs are. You'll have to see them for yourself. You're in for a treat!

This book practically screams "ADORABLE" with the gentle, informative text and fascinating photographs!

If you've ever been lucky enough to see a live panda, you are very fortunate indeed. A panda cub is an amazing sight, but "imagine seeing sixteen young giant pandas all at once!" At the Wolong Nature Reserve in China there are sixteen cubs. This is a reserve where all these pandas are very much protected and loved, not only by their mothers, but also by some very caring people. The cubs are very small, "fuzzy and pink" when they are born, but after several weeks they start to look like their mothers.

Many times pandas give birth to twins, but they can only manage to take care of one and that is when people step in to help out. The twin is tended for in a "panda nursery" and later the twins are swapped back and forth so they will each benefit from maternal care. When the cubs are "big enough to leave their nursery and their mothers," look out because here they come to panda kindergarten where they will have fun with new friends. They tumble and play together playing on their playground. They quickly learn about things like "snow is cold and very slippery." In this book you can watch them play as they go about their day in kindergarten with their pals.

This book practically screams "adorable" with the gentle, informative text and fascinating photographs. The set up of this book is quite simple, yet the reader will come away learning a lot about the young pandas at the Wolong Nature Reserve in China and their way of life. This book, in reality, has no age limit because everyone who opens its pages will be charmed from the first page to the last. The photographs superbly catch the personality of these young bears. In the back of the book are some "Fast Facts" about giant pandas. For example, did you know that "a newborn giant panda is the size of a stick of butter and weighs about four ounces?" Amazing!
